An important factor in your buying decision is how your furniture is going to fit within your living space. It is important to ensure that not only will it fit within your room, but also that it will be able to fit within the house access points. Whilst some of our bedroom and dining furniture comes requiring self-assembly, the majority of our ranges come fully assembled, below are some tips to ensure you pick the product that is right for you, and your home.

Getting Started

When you furnish any room, always start by considering the largest piece - the sofa in your living room, the dining table in your dining area, the bed in your bedroom. Where this piece fits will affect everything around it.

Your furniture should be arranged to look good to you – you’re the one who’ll be living with it after all. Furniture should also be comfortable to use and easy to walk around. Be aware of any doors or cupboards that you need to frequently use, a good idea is to either use masking tape to mimic the size of your furniture or compare the measurements against your current furniture.

Our Furniture Dimensions

All of our furniture dimensions are listed the same way, using WIDTH x DEPTH x HEIGHT. An example of one of our 3 seater sofas would be W 211 x D 90 x H 95 cm. All our products are listed in centimetres unless otherwise noted. The diagram shows how these dimensions relate to our sofas.

How to Measure Up

Below are some tips that we hope will allow you to effectively come to pick your ideal sofa. If you find yourself confused or looking for some assistance, our sales advisors are always willing to help give you some additional guidance.

• Decide exactly where you would like to place your furniture.
• Measure the area where you want to place your furniture.
• Sketch a rough plan including dimensions.
• Note the width, height, and depth of the model you want to order.
• You should now be able to see whether or not the furniture will fit within your living space.

Getting Through Your Access Points

• Ensure that all widths and diagonal depths of the furniture are less than your home’s entry dimensions.
• Check the diagonal depth on upholstery by placing a straight tape measure from the back of the frame to the front of the arm.
• If your existing furniture came in easily, compare the measurements with the model you want to replace it with.
• The diagonal height should be less than the entryway.
• Measure width and height of all doorways, hallways, and stairways, remembering to take into account unmovable objects such as banisters and turns.
• Remember obstacles such as radiators, and lights on walls and ceilings.

Homes With Limited Access Points

Should you find that you have limited access within your home, please take note that some of our sofas can be broken down for delivery; this will typically be noted within the additional information section of the product detail page.

The delivery team will always ensure to fully assemble your sofas before leaving, so with sofas that can be broken down, you don’t need to worry about having to assemble them yourself.

Note – This serves only as a guide and doesn’t guarantee your items will fit. Please consider all access points from our delivery truck to the room of your choice.

Reid Furniture charges £59 for all orders throughout mainland Scotland, Northern Ireland and the north of England. For orders in the Republic of Ireland, all our deliveries are charged at €85. Please note all Republic of Ireland orders must be carried out through our www.reidfurniture.ie site.

Whilst we deliver throughout the UK, our transport team are unable to deliver to the more remote parts of Scotland, or any of the outer islands. There is the option however to have you item picked up from our various Inverness collection points, this method of delivery applies to the following postcodes and all outer islands.

• PH34, PH36, PH37, PH38, PH40, PH55 - Delivered to Northwards (Carsegate Road, Inverness IV3 8LL)

Where restrictions apply items will be delivered to our Inverness collection point for £59.

We offer different levels of cover for our customer’s leather and fabric sofas. Please use the table below to see the key differences. Structural Defects Cover is available from when the manufacturers guarantee has expired and may be particularly worth considering if you are purchasing recliner furniture.

 

 *NOTE: Silver cover is only available on sofa purchases up to £999/€1,200 and a maximum of 6 seats in total.

When you buy SuperCover for your fabric sofa, we will spray it with an application of an aqueous protector before your furniture is delivered to you. This treatment forms an invisible shield around each fibre which helps to resist oil and water based spillages and prevent permanent staining.

And for SuperCover Platinum and Gold leather sofa purchases, we will provide you with a complimentary care kit that’s been specially designed to help care for and maintain the appearance of your new leather furniture.

The easy to use leather care kit contains:- •    8 protector wipes •    8 stain cleaner wipes     •    4 ink remover wipes
